From the moment you click onto the website<\/a>,\u00a0you’ll be streaming the lucid, light, deep and delicate jazz piano compositions of\u00a0composer & 3 time Grammy nominee Fred Hersch<\/a>, whom Vanity Fair has described as\u00a0“the most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz over the last decade…” \u00a0This music has whole conversations between the keys, and the opportunity to listen in is provided on his newest cd: \u00a0Fred Hersch Trio – Alive at the Vanguard<\/em><\/a>. \u00a0This is not a throwaway title.\u00a0In fact it is deeply serious; four years ago Fred went into a three-month coma after suffering AIDS-related dementia. \u00a0He was unable to perform for several months after. \u00a0Only three years later, in 2011,\u00a0he played a week-long engagement at NYC’s Village Vanguard, and his cd\u00a0Alone at the Vanguard<\/em> was created. \u00a0The new, 2012 release celebrates his life and continued productivity. \u00a0He has been involved in AIDS education and fundraising since 1993, and it doesn’t seem as if he’s planning to let any of it go any time soon.<\/p>\n

Go and catch him on his tour this fall! \u00a0We’ve just missed him at NYC’s Village Vanguard<\/a> in September, but tonight he’s in DC, then onto Baltimore, London & all over England & Scotland, then back to New Jersey, Chicago and New Haven before flying back to the European continent to tour throughout November. \u00a0He hits the US again on November 29th for a show in Brooklyn, then travels to Saratoga, CA, but returns to the Village Vanguard for another week from Jan 8 – 13, 2013, before heading upstate…and it goes on & on. \u00a0How DOES this man find the energy?!<\/p>\n

Get up and move to his music – nothing stops him, and it shouldn’t you either!<\/p>\n
